Beneficial Berries

November 16, 2016 By Robin Fannon

These anti-aging, anti-cancer fighting gems are rich in antioxidants, loaded with vitamin C, help fight inflammation, have a high water and fiber content and ward off cardiovascular disease.  There are also pack a wallop of folate which helps to boost your serotonin levels.  While they can be very costly, especially in the winter months they are worth every penny, and keep in mind that frozen berries work just as well and are terrific in smoothies.  We highly recommend going organic when choosing berries as they are high on the Environmental Working Group’s (EWG) dirty 12 list, which indicates a high level of pesticide use on these crops. Combine them with yogurt and granola, throw into smoothies or use them in salads for some pretty color, a touch of sweetness and an extra nutritional punch!
